Woodbury Lions Club Supports Annual “Shop With a Cop” Event, Donates $500 to Help Local Families This Holiday Season

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Woodbury, MN — December 6, 2025 — The Woodbury Lions Club joined forces with the Cottage Grove Lions and the Latino Police Officers Association – Minnesota Chapter this past Saturday at the annual Shop With a Cop event held at the Woodbury Walmart. The event, which welcomes 50–60 police officers from across the region, pairs local youth with officers to help them shop for Christmas gifts for their families.

Each child received money to spend, and the officers escort them through the store, creating a meaningful and memorable holiday experience. The Woodbury Lions Club contributed a $500 donation and provided volunteers who helped throughout the morning.

“This event is everything our mission is about—community, service, and supporting families who need it most,” said a representative from the Woodbury Lions. “To see officers and kids shopping together, laughing, and building trust… it’s the kind of moment that sticks with you.”

The Shop With a Cop event ran from 9:00 to 11:00 AM and once again proved to be a heartwarming and impactful opportunity for community engagement. The Lions plan to continue partnering with local organizations throughout the holiday season to uplift families across the east metro. We’re proud to partner once again with the Afton Bayport Lakeland - ABL Lions to assemble hypoglycemic kits for South Washington County Schools (District 833) These kits help ensure students who need immediate blood sugar support have access to critical supplies — and they’re made possible through teamwork, service, and community commitment.

A big thank-you to all the Lions who volunteered their time and energy to make this happen. This is what service looks like.

The Woodbury Lions Club…where ALL are WELCOME!

Whenever the Woodbury Lions club gets together, problems get smaller and our community gets better. That’s because we serve Woodbury with unmatched integrity and energy. Everywhere we are, we make friends. Friends with children who need glasses. Friends with seniors who don’t have enough to eat. And friends with people struggling with childhood cancer or diabetes. We know it’s hard for one person alone to make a difference but together we get stronger and more effective.
